How to resolve: This request looks like it might be automated. To protect our users from spam and other malicious activity, we can't complete this action right now. Please try again later.
As you might notice, many people are unable to send Twitter DM containing URLs. This is known issue and you can read more about it on Twitter support site: https://support.twitter.com/articles/14606-posting-or-deleting-direct-messages.
We're restructuring back-end elements of our direct message system. As a result, users may be unable to send some URLs in direct messages. We apologize for the inconvenience. |
Please file a ticket with Twitter support and select following option: I have an API policy question not covered by these points. List all of the URLs you're trying to use in the DM. Most likely you will receive following reply within few hours:
Hello @YourTwitterName
Thanks for reaching out. We're aware of the issue and are working on a fix. If after 48 hours you are still experiencing errors related to these domains in Direct Messages, please contact us again with those details.
Nevertheless, there are some workarounds to resolve it:
- Instead of a message with the link, you could choose to send one without a link. If you simply will take out all links from your DM, the issue will be resolved. Instead you can refer people to your website in your Twitter profile.
- Another method is to use the link directly, but add a slash before the link (avoid http or https), like this: /www.vicconsult.com/twitter-autoresponder-auto-reply/. The link will no longer be hyperlinked, but it will at least go through to your followers.
- Add space between domain name and extension. For example instead of http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qOCnOesSYZk do something like this: youtube .com/watch?v=qOCnOesSYZk
The solution described below no longer working for most of the users!
But if you still want to send URLs via DM, please try this workaround, which might help you to deliver links to your new followers via Twitter direct messages. Please follow the steps below:1) Compose a new tweet containing your URL
2) Click on your new tweet to open it's details
3) Click on "Details" link. This will redirect you to a new page containing this tweet only
4) Copy URL of this tweet
5) Use our URL shortening service, which generates t.co version (same that twitter does). Our shortening service available for our auto DM users, after they login with their twitter users on our website.
Now you can use shortened URL in your Twitter DMs. Please do not use any other URL shortening services, they will not work!
